Handling Disconnects

In SSB6, all Online matches with 2 players or 2 teams will end immediately when a player disconnects. Also, the Home Button is disabled during a ranked set to discourage rage quitting. This applies to all quickplay playlists, not just Ranked playlists. There will still be a timeout penalty applied for repeated disconnects, which prevents the player from queuing for a period of time. Quitting out of a Ranked set will cause that set to be treated as a loss.

Notes

For Singles and Doubles playlists, there is no point in making the player fight a CPU if the other player quits. The player didn't queue into online just to face a CPU.

Disabling the Home Button should also significantly reduce the amount of times players quit out to "protect" their ranked points. That happened too often in Ultimate, where you would have to wait for the disconnect lag to resolve, get an error or face a CPU, then see your rank didn't change because the other player was a sore loser. There is a much smaller subset of poor-sportsmanship players who are going to physically hold the power button down on their Switch 2 console or pull out a cable.
