Button Mapping Options
The D-pad buttons now support movement and directional input mappings.
- D-Pad-Up can be mapped to Up
- D-Pad-Left can be mapped to Left
- D-Pad-Right can be mapped to Right
- D-Pad-Down can be mapped to Down
D-Pad movement will have the character walk by default. However, a Run button now can be mapped. When the Run button is held down, D-pad movement will have the character run. If the character is currently walking when the Run button is pushed, they will automatically transition to Running. This includes after landing from a jump. The Run button also effects aerial drift and fast falling, essentially causing the D-pad to behave like a "fully pressed" stick input. The Run button will also apply to Stick Input movement.
The following buttons can now have actions assigned:
- Plus
- Minus
- Left-Stick-Click
- Right-Stick-Click
- GL
- GR
- Capture
- C (Chat)
- GCN Lightly Pressed Trigger
- GCN Fully Pressed Trigger
These actions can now be mapped to any button:
- Assist 1 & Tag 1. Tapping the button calls the Assist. Holding the button Tags-In the standby character.
- Assist 2 & Tag 2. Tapping the button calls the Assist. Holding the button Tags-In the standby character.
- Pause
- Overdrive
- Up-Special
- Up-Smash
- Shield + Shield
- Run
- Wavedash
- Nothing (Unassigned)
Notes
The new Button Mapping options available in Smash 6 allow for even more specific button layouts.
